Tanya Ahamed

Tanya Ahamed has served on the Board of Directors of the S.O.U.L. Foundation since 2012. She received her Bachelor degree in social work in 2005 from Colorado State University and her Masters in Social Work with a concentration in Trauma from the University of Denver, Colorado. She is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, working with victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse as well working as the Clinical Director of an agency that provides psychosocial treatment, tailored specifically to the offense of patients within the criminal Justice system in Colorado.

Tanya first visited Uganda in 2012  and has returned there numerous times, igniting the student sponsorship program through her vast network of friends who come from a variety of backgrounds. Born in Jamaica, she spent much of her childhood abroad where she was exposed to many different cultures and levels of development, leading to her love for travel and all things new and adventurous. Tanya lives with her family in Colorado. She has inspired her beautiful daughter Nori to fall in love with Uganda and join the pre-school classes there, when they last visited in 2023.
