Shanita Mutesi was born on December 7, 2008 and is currently 14 years old. She is in Secondary Level Two (S2) at St. John’s Secondary School, Wakitaka.

Shanita resides in Dwaliro Zone, Mayuge District, Uganda with her parents and seven siblings – three sisters and four brothers.  Her parents are both small-scale farmers. Despite their limited income, her parents value education and have ensured that all their children receive an education. 

Friendly and very social, with a beautiful voice, Shanita’s dream is to become a singer. She is inspired by Judith Babirye, a prominent Ugandan Christian gospel artist. She spends her free time listening to gospel music and rehearsing to perfect her craft. She also loves attending services at her local church every Sunday.
