David Kakaire
David Kakaire joined S.O.U.L. Foundation as a Digital Literacy Instructor at our Bugweri District location in 2019. However, his journey with the S.O.U.L. Foundation began way before that! David’s foray into the world of education began after he completed his Secondary School studies. He immediately put his people skills to use and became a teacher for Geography at Mpumudde High School in Jinja City. In 2018, David came across an opportunity to learn computer skills at a subsidized cost at the S.O.U.L. Foundation’s Jinja location. Passionate about learning and self-improvement, David did not think twice about taking advantage of the opportunity. In 2022, he enrolled in a 3-month Certified Digital Literacy training in Graphic Design at the S.O.U.L. Foundation’s Digital Literacy Lab in Jinja.
Soon, David was observed as a suitable teacher to become the lead instructor in Bugweri, where S.O.U.L. Foundation is set to expand. Recently, S.O.U.L Foundation installed solar power at our Bugweri location and purchased furniture for a 20-seater Digital Literacy Lab set to start intake in March 2024. He continues to advocate for the purchase of the computer consoles needed to start instruction. He is a keen advocate for self-improvement and learning and is quite creative in putting together beautiful paper decorations that are simply mesmerizing.
David has a great love for adventure and travel. The S.O.U.L. Foundation recently allocated its second motorcycle to the Bugweri location, and David has been off and riding all over the community, marketing S.O.U.L. educational opportunities and maternal health programs. He loves Ugandan juicy watermelons. In his spare time, he is an avid reader of African novelists such as Chinua Achebe.
