Alex Natuhwera
Alex Natuhwera recently joined the S.O.U.L. Family Foundation as our Uganda Country Director in July 2023. Alex holds a Bachelor of Laws from Uganda Christian University, Mukono, Uganda. He is currently pursuing a weekend Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi. He is set to complete it in December 2023. Alex has worked with various national and international NGOs in Uganda – rising from a Program Coordinator to a Country Director, a position he has held in the previous two organizations he has served in.
Alex brings to the S.O.U.L. Foundation over nine years of experience developing transformational organizational processes and systems, strategic plans, and writing winning grant applications. Alex enjoys working with teams while translating organizational goals and objectives into actionable plans. Alex firmly believes in sustainable development and a movement away from the dependency syndrome that has characterized international development in the past. A favorite quote of Alex is “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” With the current shift towards localization of international development, he believes that the S.O.U.L. Foundation is well positioned to play a critical role in this space.
Alex grew up watching his father and mother struggle with limited resources for his school and among the students he served, many of whom came from impoverished homes. Watching his father’s determination to make a difference in the lives of his many students, Alex developed a strong desire to change the narrative, particularly at a community level. In his leisure time, Alex enjoys reading management books, listening to music, watching love stories, and spending time with his family exploring nature in all its beauty and glory! He looks forward to getting to know Kyabirwa Village, the incredible staff serving the S.O.U.L. Foundation today in Jinja and Bugweri, and cultivating our past, present and future donors in Uganda and internationally.
